لويس مونتباتن

حياته المبكرة
منذ ميلاده في فروگمور هاوس في هوم پارك، ويندسور، هومپارك، ويندسور، بركشير حتى عام 1917، عندما كان له، ولآخرين، علاقة بالملك جورج الخامس تم إسقاط ألقابهم الملكية الألمانية، كان مونتباتن يُعرف بصاحب السمو الأميري الأمير لويس من باتنبرگ. كان أصغر اخوته وثاني أبناء الأمير لويس من باتنبرگ وزوجته الأميرة ڤيكتوريا من هسه والراين. كان جداه لأمه لويس الرابع، دوق هسه، والأميرة أليس من المملكة المتحدة، التي كانت ابنة الملكة ڤيكتوريا والأمير ألبرت من ساكس-كوبورگ وگوتا. جداه لأبيه كانا الأمير ألكسندر من هسه والراين وجوليا، أميرة باتنبرگ.[2]

درس مونتباتن في المنزل طوال العشر سنوات الأولى من حياته: ثم أُرسل إلى مدرسة لوكرز پارك في هرتفوردشير[5] وإلى الكلية البحرية الملكية، أوسبورن في مايو 1913.[6] أثناء طفولته زار المحكمة الامبراطورية الروسية في سانت پطرسبورگ وأصبح على علاقة وثيقة مع العائلة الملكية الروسية، وكان يكن مشاعر عاطفية تجاه ابنة عمه لأبيه الدوقة العظمى ماريا نيقولايڤنا، حيث كان يحتفظ بصورته بجانب سريره لبقية حياته.[7]
