پالنكى Palenque، هي مدينة أثرية ازدهرت فقي العهد الماياني الكلاسيكي (300 – 900) موجودة في ولاية تشياپاس جنوب شرق المكسيك، على بعد 130 كم جنوب سيوداد دل كارمن وقد ضاع اسمها الأصلي فسميت على القرية القريبة سانتو دومينگو دي بالنكى وفتحت للزوار منذ ستينات القرن الماضي بعد أن تم كشفها تحت الأدغال النامية فوقها.

استعمال البناءون الجبس عوضاً عن الحجر الجيري المستعمل في المدن المايانية لتحتفظ بنهايات ناعمة واستعملوا أدوات الحفر على الجدران الداخلية ولكن أفضل ما صنعوا كان في الألواح الملصقة على الجدران بالجبس وكذلك الصور من الجص والطين، والقصر الكبير به ثلاث أسوار متوازية ومسكن وممرين وسراديب مسننة على طراز المدينة ولكن أفضل المباني هو معبد النقوش الذي توجد به نقوش هيروغليفية، وفي عام 1952 تم اكتشاف قبو فيه بقايا ربما تجع لحاكم من القرن الثامن الميلادي.

التراث العالمي

نشرت پالنكى، المثال البارز لمعابد المايا من العصر التقليدي التي عرفت ذروة ازدهارها بين القرن السادس والقرن الثامن، تأثيرها على كامل حوض الأوسوماسينتا. فتقنية تشييد الأبنية وفخامتها تمامًا كخفّة نقوشها البارزة تجسّد الأساطير وتشهد على مهارة الابتكار التي كانت تتّسم به حضارة المايا. أدرجت المدينة على قائمة التراث العالمي عام 1987.[1]
