سانتوس دومونت، ألبرتوAlberto Santos-Dumont (و.1873 ـ ت.1932م). أحد الروّاد في مجال صناعة الطائرات ذات المحركات الأخف وزنًا من الهواء، والمحركات الأثقل وزنًا من الهواء. وقد أنفق ثروته في سبيل ترقية وتطوير الملاحة الجوية، ومساعدة المخترعين الواعدين فيها.

ولد سانتوس دومونت بالبرازيل لأبوين ثريين، وتلقّى معظم تعليمه في فرنسا. وفي عام 1898م، أطلق كيسًا في شكل السيجار مدفوعًا بوساطة محركين صغيرين ومروحة واحدة. وفي عام 1905م صنع طائرة صندوقية وكان كل جناح فيها صندوقًا، وعلى مقدمة الطائرة صندوق ثالث يستخدم للتحكم في الطائرة. وفي عام 1906م أطلق أول طائرة أثقل وزنًا من الهواء في فرنسا استمر طيرانها لمدة ثماني ثوان. وكان الإنجاز الذي حققه أن طائرته كانت أخف وزنًا بمقدار النصف من الطائرة ذات السَّطحين التي صنعها الأخوان رايت. ومن مساهماته الخالدة إدخال عجلات للهبوط.
