والد كارل هلموت هرتس

گوستاڤ هرتس (Gustav Ludwig Hertz) (و. 22 يوليو، 1887 - 30 أكتوبر، 1975) كان عالم فيزياء تجريبية ألماني. حصل على جائزة نوبل في الفيزياء عام 1925 بالاشتراك مع جيمس فرانك عن أعماله في تجربة فرانك-هرتس Franck-Hertz experiment لإثباته صحة نظرية نيلز بور عن الذرة. وفي عام 1932 طور هرتز طريقة لفصل النظائر.

طابع من ألمانيا الديمقراطية لتكريم گوستاڤ هرتس.

وُلِد هرتز في هامبورج وعمل في الاتحاد السوڤيتي السابق من عام 1945 إلى عام 1954، وحصل على جائزة ستالين عام 1951م. وهو ابن أخ العالم هاينريش رودولف هرتس.
