تعلم اللغة الثانية واكتسابها Second Language Acquisition, SLA هي الدراسة التي تعنى بدراسة كيفية اكتساب البشر للغة ثانية. بدء هذا العلم في النصف الثاني من القرن العشرين. ويمكن تعريف اكتساب اللغة الثانية بانها الطريقة التي يتعلم البشر لغة ثانية غير لغتهم الأم أو لغتهم الأصلية، سواء كان هذا الاكتساب أو التعليم من خلال تعليم نظامي (أي داخل الفصول الدراسية) أو خارج التعليم النظامي.
