تقع جزيرة السعديات وسط مياه الخليج وهي أقرب الجزر إلى قلب العاصمة وهي تبعد عن أبو ظبي كيلو متر واحد ومساحتها 8 كيلو مترات مربعة.

كان سكانها الأصليون يعتمدون في حياتهم على صيد السمك قبل أن تتحول إلى واحدة من أكبر المزارع التي تسهم الآن في سد احتياجات أبو ظبي من الخضر و الفاكهة و السمك. وهي واحدة من الجزر التي تتجسد على أرضها إرادة إنسان الإمارات في معركة التحدي التي يخوضها ضد الطبيعة. إذ يوجد بها مركز أبحاث الأراضي القاحلة الذي يشرف على جميع المشروعات الزراعية منذ أن وقع عليها الاختبار لكي تكون مصدراً من مصادر الأمن الغذائي فقد تولت جامعة أريزونا الأمريكية قبل 20 عاماً إنشاء مشروع متكامل من أجل إنتاج الخضر والفاكهة داخل بيوت بلاستيكية مكيفة الهواء حيث لا تؤثر اعتبارات الطقس أو فصول السنة على المحاصيل الزراعية. وقد تفوقت معدلات إنتاج أراضي "السعديات" على معدلات إنتاج مثيلاتها من أراضي الولايات المتحدة حيث بلغ معدل إنتاج خضر السعديات 100 طن سنوياً بينما في الولايات المتحدة لا يزيد على 80 طناً.

ومع هذا الإنجاز الزراعي الكبير تزداد حركة الحياة فوق الجزيرة، حيث أقيمت المساكن الحديثة والعيادات الصحية والمدارس وتم توفير المياه والكهرباء وتفكر الحكومة في بط الجزيرة مع العاصمة بجسر يمتد 9 كيلو مترات، فوق مياه الخليج، مما سيؤدي إلى زيادة الحركة العمرانية والزراعية والصناعية في الجزيرة.

Sadiyaat Island Beach Club

Saadiyat Island, a natural island that is the focus of 27 km2 of development, will be divided into 7 districts (العربية: منطقة‎)[1] which will eventually accommodate over 145,000 people.[2][3]

The Cultural District houses three major museums: The Louvre and Guggenheim, as well as the Zayed National Museum.[4] Each of these institutions will represent a significant attraction in its own right with the Louvre and the Guggenheim expected to be the major draws for tourists.[5]

Manarat Al Saadiyat (العربية: منارة السعديات‎), the building designed to host temporary taster exhibitions for the planned museums, hosts the Saadiyat Experience, a permanent exhibition that introduces the plans for the development Of Saadiyat Island.[6]

متحف زايد الوطني

Zayed National Museum will center on a narrative linking the development of Abu Dhabi to the reign of the United Arab Emirates founding father (1966-2004) Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and to structures having themes of education, conservation, environmental sustainability, cultural heritage, humanitarianism and faith.[7][8]

Louvre Abu Dhabi

Louvre Abu Dhabi is an Emirati-French collaboration project that was opened on 11 November 2017.[9] It was designed by architect Jean Nouvel.[10]

The Louvre Abu Dhabi will mark the first time the French government has entered into an international partnership to extend the Louvre overseas. The 30-year agreement, signed in 2007, will see the loan of some 200–300 artworks over the period of the deal.[5]

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi

Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is a planned museum designed by Frank Gehry.[11] At 30,000 m2 (320,000 sq ft), it is planned to be the largest of the Guggenheim museums. The museum will join Bilbao, Venice and New York in hosting the prestigious foundation.[5]

Maritime museum

A maritime museum is a planned museum devoted to explaining the maritime ecosystem and heritage of Abu Dhabi and sea-related Emirati professions. The architecture of the museum reflects Emirati construction and decoration. The main part of the project will be an underground basin, a traditional sailboat and the boat "Zayed Memorial", which crossed the Atlantic in 2007 for humanitarian purposes.[12]

The Accommodation Village

The Saadiyat Accommodation Village, opened in 2009, is a modern housing community that offers social, recreational and educational facilities for residents.[13]

Arts center

The arts center consists of five theaters, an opera house and several arenas for musical concerts. The center also has an experimental theater, the Abu Dhabi Performing Arts Academy with 3,557 m2 (38,290 sq ft) of space for educational activities about art, design, music and drama. The center also has shops and restaurants on a surface of 28,692 m2 (308,840 sq ft).

Abrahamic Family House

Commissioned by the Higher Committee for Human Fraternity, David Adjaye won a 2019 design competition for the Abrahamic Family House, consisting of three rectangular buildings – a church, a synagogue and a mosque – resting on a secular visitor pavilion.[14][15][16]
