السَّمك الذّهبي مجموعة من سمك الشبوط تسمى أيضًا الشَّبُّوط الذهبي. وليس لصغاره لون براق، لكن لبعضها أشكالاً لامعة. وتدعى جميعها السمك الذهبي مع أن ألوانها تتفاوت بين الأحمر والبرتقالي والذهبي، إلى الأسود والأبيض والبني والبرونزي والرمادي. ويمكن إنتاج السمك المتعدد الألوان عن طريق تهجين سلالات مختارة من السمك الذهبي الخالص. ويستعمل السمك الذهبي في كثير من الحالات للزيّنة.

 أنواع السمك الذهبي

يوجد حوالي 100 نوع من هذا السمك، ويتوفر في الأسواق حوالي 20 نوعًَا فقط. ويطلق عليه أسماء كثيرة منها المذنّب ورأس الأسد والذّيل المروحي والذّيل المبرقع. ولبعضها حراشف تكاد لا تُرى بسبب رقتها، وتسمى اللاحرشفية. ولهذا النوع لون أحمر غامق، وربما توجد عليه بقع زرقاء أو أرجوانية، أو ذات لون أرجواني فاتح أو أصفر فاتح. ويبلغ طول بعضها 8,5سم، في حين يبلغ طول بعضها الآخر 30سم.

ويضع السمك المتوحش منه، بيضه بين النباتات المائية في منتصف فصل الصيف عندما تكون درجة الحرارة حوالي20°م. يعيش بعض أنواعه طويلاً؛ إذ قد يصل عمره إلى أكثر من 50 عامًا، بينما لا يصل عمر السمك المتوحش إلى أكثر من 15 عامًا. ومعظم السمك المنزلي يعيش أقل من 5 سنوات.

Common goldfish are a type of goldfish with no other modifications from their ancestor, the Prussian carp, other than their color. Common goldfish come in a variety of colours including red, orange/gold, white, black and yellow or 'lemon' goldfish.		The Black moor is a telescope-eyed variety of fancy goldfish that has a characteristic pair of protruding eyes. It is also referred to as popeye, telescope, kuro demekin in Japan and dragon-eye in China.		The Bubble Eye is a small variety of fancy goldfish with upward pointing eyes that are accompanied by two large fluid-filled sacs.

Celestial eye goldfish or Choten gan is a double-tailed breed of fancy goldfish that has a breed-defining pair of telescope eyes which are turned upwards, pupils gazing skyward.		The comet or comet-tailed goldfish is the most common variety of fancy goldfish in the الولايات المتحدة. It is similar to the common goldfish, except slightly smaller and slimmer, and is mainly distinguished by its long deeply forked tail.		The Fantail goldfish is the western form of the Ryukin that possesses an egg-shaped body, a high dorsal fin, a long quadruple caudal fin, and no shoulder hump.

The lionhead is a hooded variety of fancy goldfish. This fish is the precursor to the ranchu.		An oranda is a fancy goldfish characterized by a prominent raspberry-like hood encasing its head. The hood or headgrowth (also known as wen) encases the whole head except for the eyes and mouth.		The pearlscale or chinshurin in Japanese, is a spherical-bodied fancy goldfish with finnage similar to the fantail.

Pompoms or pompon or hana fusa are a type of fancy goldfish that have bundles of loose fleshy outgrowths between the nostrils, on each side of the head.		The ryukin is a short deep-bodied fancy goldfish with a characteristic hump in the shoulder region.		Shubunkins (朱文金code: ja is deprecated ) (translated literally as "red brocade") are a hardy, single-tailed fancy goldfish with nacreous scales, and a pattern known as calico. The shubunkins are of Japanese origin.

The telescope eye or demekin is a fancy goldfish characterized by its protruding eyes. It is also known as globe eye or dragon eye goldfish.		The ranchu is a hooded variety of fancy goldfish developed in Japan. It is referred to as the "king of goldfish" by the Japanese.		The panda moor is a fancy goldfish with a characteristic black-and-white color pattern and protruding eyes.
Veiltail
The veiltail is a fancy goldfish which is known for its extra-long, flowing double tail.

 رعاية الأسماك

يحتاج السمك الذهبي رعاية محدودة مقارنة ببقية الحيوانات المنزلية. ويناسبه الوعاء ذو الجدران المستقيمة أكثر من الأحواض المقوّسة، لأن الأول يوفّر سطحًا أكبر يساعد على امتصاص الهواء. يجب أن تبقى درجة حرارة الماء حوالي 18°م، وأن يكون نظيفًا وخاليًا من المواد الكيميائية السامة مثل الكلور المُستعمل في تنقية المياه المنزلية. فإذا ترك الماء المعالج بالكلور مكشوفًا لمدة 24 ساعة، فإن أثر الكلور يزول بعد هذه المدة، ومن ثمَّ يمكن وضع السمك الذهبي فيه. مع العلم بأن التغيّر الحاد في درجة حرارة الماء يضر السمك. ويجب أن يقدّم للسمك وجبة واحدة يوميًا، ويتغذى بالدود، ولبّ الخبز، وبراغيث الماء، والنباتات، ويجب أن يظل الحوض مظللاً لأن السمك لا جفون له. انظر: الأحياء المائية، حوض.

 نشأة الأسماك

كانت أسلاف السمك الذهبي، ذات ألوان عادية، وكانت تعيش في الصين، واليابان. يفقد السمك الذهبي الذي يعيش في المياه الجارية، كالأنهار والبحيرات، مظهره الجذاب بسرعة، ويصبح لونه مثل لون أسلافه. وقد استولد الصينيون منذ عدة قرون سمكًا ذهبيًا لإنتاج سمك ذي لون جميل له زعانف وجسم غير عادي. وقام اليابانيون بدور فعَّال في استنباط كثير من الأنواع الجديدة التي نراها الآن. انظر أيضًا: الشبوط
