زلزال تركيا 2010 ، هو زلزال بقوة Mw وقع في 8 مارس 2010[1][2] في الساعة 02:32 UTC. بؤرة الزلزال كانت في بيسورت في محافظة إلازيغ. وحسب وكالات الأخبار العالمية فقد قتل 57 شخص على الأقل، و100 أو أكثر في المستشفيات، وقفز الكثيرون أو وقعوا من المباني أثناء الزلزال.[2][3] والتدافع في شوارع أدى إلى المزيد من الاصابات.[4] ولازال عدد القتلى في إرتفاع مستمر.[5]

كما تسبب الزلزال بموجة ذعر دفعت بالسكان في الولايات المجاورة الى النزول الى الشوارع تحسبا من الهزات الارتدادية التي تلته وأقواها بلغت 4.1 على مقياس ريختر.

وافادت المعلومات بأن مركز الهزة يقع في منطقة بيسورت كاراكوكان على بعد 21 كيلومتر جنوب شرقي إيلازي وعلى عمق نحو 11 كيلومتر. ، كما يشار الى ان تركيا الواقعة فوق صدوع قارية ناشطة عادة ما تشهد زلازل. وكان آخر زلزال قوي ضرب البلاد قد وقع عام 1999 وادى الى مقتل 20 الف شخص شمالي غرب البلاد. [6]

The quake occurred on the East Anatolian Fault, a major transform fault which represents the boundary between the Anatolian Plate and the Arabian Plate.[7]

Emergency services went to Kovancılar.[8]

Thirty houses collapsed, and the death toll is at least 17.[2] Reports from the scene indicate "the village is totally flattened" and "everything has been knocked down – there is not a stone in place".[2][9] The village is closed to traffic to allow emergency services to find their way round.[10] Families of villagers gathered at the scene to find out what had happened to their relatives.[10]

وقعت الكثير من التوابع بعد الزلزال مباشرة وكان أولها بقوة 5.5 [2] at 07:47:40 UTC.[بحاجة لمصدر]ووقع تابع آخر بقوة 5.1.[10]وتم رصد أكثر من 20 تابع في فترة زمنية قصيرة بعد وقوع الزلزال.[11] Villagers were told to stay away from buildings for several days due to the potential of further aftershocks.[10]
