بنغالي ( /bɛŋˈɡɔːli/؛ إنگليزية: Bengalicode: en is deprecated ) or Bangla ( /bɑːŋlɑː/; বাংলাcode: bn is deprecated Bangla [ˈbaŋla] ( استمع)) هي لغة دولة بنگلادش وولاية غرب البنغال في الهند، يتكلمونها 190 مليون شخص، فهي من أكبر لغات العالم. تكتب بالكتابة البنغالية. هي إحدى اللغات الهندية الآرية مثل الهندية والأردية والسندية، وأصلها السانسكرتية وقبل ذالك الهندية الأوربية.

أشهر شاعر بنغالي ربيندرنات تاكور، فائز جائزة نوبل للآداب في عام 1913. وكتب أناشيد بنغلاديش والهند الوطنية. والشاعر قاضي نصر الإسلام مشهور أيضا.

 التاريخ

لما كانت بنگلادش جزء من باكستان، أصبحت الأردية اللغة الرسمية بالرغم أنها كانت لغة أقلية صغيرة، فغضب البنغاليون، وعلى 21 فبراير، 1952، تظاهر طلاب في دكا ضد هذا القانون، وأطلق العسكر عليهم النار. لهذا أصبح 21 فبراير "عيد شهداء اللغة". واعترف به اليونسكو لما سماه "اليوم العالمي للغة الأم[1]".

للبنغالية لهجات. تسمى اللغة الفصيحة "سادهو بهاشا" (لغة الأحكام)، ودخلت فيها كلمات سانسكرتية كثيرة. وأما العامية فتسمى "چولتي بهاشا" (اللغة الجارية). ولهجة الغرب تختلف عن لهجة الشرق، خاصة في صوتين، ففي الشرق تصبح "پهـ" ف، و "چ" س، ودخل فيها كلمات عربية وفارسية أكثر.
