الصحوة الكبرى اسم أطلق على سلسلة من الحركات الإحيائية المسيحية في المستعمرات الأمريكية خلال أوائل القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي. بدأت هذه الحركات في المستعمرات المتوسطة، في أوائل الثلاثينيات من القرن الثامن عشر الميلادي، وانتشرت حتى نيو إنجلاند وبعض المناطق في الجنوب، وكان بين زعماء حركة الصحوة الكبرى جوناثان إدواردز، وهو قس أبرشي من مساتشوستس، وجورج وايتفيلد الإنجليزي.
ونتيجة لحركة الصحوة الكبرى، فإن عناصر الإحيائية لاقت قبولاً واسعًا كوسيلة لتحويل الناس إلى كنيسة معينة، وتركز الإحيائية على التجربة الدينية الشخصية بدلاً من القوانين الدينية المحددة للكنيسة. وقد أصر مؤيدو الصحوة الكبرى على أن مثل هذه التجربة ضرورية ومهمة لأنها تؤهل لعضوية الكنيسة. لكن المعارضين أعلنوا أنه يمكن للفرد أن يتبع أي كنيسة دون أن يمر بمثل هذه التجربة.
