كيش (سومر)

كيش وتسمى أيضاً تل الأحيمر هي منطقة أثرية في محافظة بابل، العراق كانت في السابق أحد المدن الرئيسية للسومريين وحسب الأساطير السومرية تعتبر كيش أول مدينة يتربع عليها ملك بعد الطوفان الكبير الذي ذكر في الأساطير السومرية والديانات اليهودية و المسيحية والإسلام.
قام فريق فرنسي مختص في علم الآثار بقيادة هنري ده جنوياك Henri de Genouillac بالتنقيب لأول مرة عن مدينة كيش بين عامي 1912 و 1914، وقد عثر على 1400 لوح طيني، وُزعت بين متحف اسطنبول الأثري ومتحف اللوڤر.[1] وفي بعثة تنقيب لاحقة مع متحف فيلد وفريق جامعة أكسفورد بقيادة ستيفن هربرت لانگدون عملوا من 1923 حتى 1933، وقاموا باقتسام اللقى الأثرية بين شيكاغو والمتحف الأشمولي في أكسفورد. قبل 5000 سنة ظهر مايعتبره البعض أول الأمبراطوريات في تاريخ الأنسان من مدينة كيش على يد السومريين واستمرت إلى أن أطاح بها الأكاديون وقد ذكرت مدينة كيش في ملحمة گلگامش ايضاً.
