حران مدينة قديمة في بلاد ما بين النهرين تقع حالياً جنوب تركيا قرب الحدود السورية عند منبع نهر البليخ أحد روافد نهر الفرات في الجزيرة السورية العليا، ذكرت في التوراة على أنها المدينة التي استقر فيها النبي إبراهيم بعد هجرته من اور. سميت عند الرومان باسم (كارهاي). دخلها المسلمون عام 639م. تعد ضمن الأقاليم السورية الشمالية التي اقتطعتها تركيا من سورية بعد معاهدة لوزان المعدلة لحدود معاهدة سيفر. تعد سهول حران من المناطق الزراعية الرئيسية في في الجزيرة الفراتية، وهي مزروعة بالمحاصيل الحقلية (القمح والشعير) والأشجار المثمرة (اللوز).
