ولاية أكوا إيبوم هي احدى الولايات الست وثلاثين المكونة لنيجيريا. الإنجليزية هي اللغة الرسمية. السكان معظمهم مسيحيون من قبائل مختلفة، ضمنها: إبيبو، أنانگ، اورون، إكـِت، إفيك. وهم في حروب فيما بينهم و مع قبائل الولايات المجاورة وخصوصا ولاية كروس ريڤر.
مدينة إكـِت يتركز فيها استخراج النفط.

Languages
Like their Efik neighbors of Cross River State, people of Akwa Ibom speak various dialects of the Ibibio-Efik languages, which belong to the Benue–Congo language family, forming part of the Niger–Congo group of languages.
