  • Rosselló relieved all participants of the group chat from their positions in the government, others resigned beforehand.
  • Rosselló announced his resignation from the presidency of his political party and that he would not seek reelection for the 2020 elections on July 21.
  • Rosselló announced his resignation as Governor of Puerto Rico on July 24, effective August 2 at 5:00 p.m. AST.[1][2]
  • Rosselló's projected successor, Secretary of Justice Wanda Vázquez Garced, publicly rejected the office.
  • Rosselló announced on July 31 his nomination of former Resident Commissioner Pedro Pierluisi to the position of Secretary of State, with the intention of having him succeed the office of Governor of Puerto Rico.[3]
  • Pierluisi's nomination as acting Governor is blocked by the Senate of Puerto Rico on August 1.[4]
  • Pierluisi is confirmed as Secretary of State by House of Representatives on August 2 after confirmation hearings; the Senate had scheduled a ratification to confirm Pierluisi as Secretary of State that was later cancelled.
  • Pierluisi was sworn in as Governor of Puerto Rico on August 2, at 5:00 p.m. AST, immediately after Rosselló's term ended.
  • The Supreme Court of Puerto Rico unanimously rules on August 7 that Pierluisi's swearing-in was unconstitutional and ordered his exit from La Fortaleza.
  • After the Supreme Court's ruling, Vázquez Garced was sworn in as Governor by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, becoming the second woman to assume the office.

فضيحة تلگرام Telegramgate، تُعرف أيضاً باسم فضيحة الدردشة Chatgate أو تسريبيات ريكي RickyLeaks[7][8]، هي فضيحة سياسية جارية متورط فيها ريكاردو روسلو، حاكم پورتو ريكو، بدأت في 8 يوليو 2019، حيث تسربت مئات الصفحات لمجموعة دردشة على تطبيق تلگرام بين روسلو وأعضاء سابقين وحاليين من موظفيه. اعتبرت الرسائل بذيئة، عنصرية، ومتخوفة من المثليين تجاه العديد من الأفراد والجماعات، وناقشت كيفية استخدام هؤلاء المسئولين للإعلام من أجل استهداف المعارضين السياسيين المحتملين. جاء التسريب وسط مزاعم أثارها وزير الخزانة الپورتو ريكي السابق، راؤول مالدونادو گوتيير، بأن وزارته تتباهى بكونها "مافيا مؤسسية" يشارك فيها روسلو. ظهرت التسريبات بعد عام من فضيحة سابقة، سُميت فضيحة واتس‌آپ، التي تورط فيها أعضاء آخرين من وزارة روسلو.[9]

خرجت الاحتجاجات الجماعية، التي وصلت إلى ذروتها في 17 يوليو بخروج ما يزيد عن 500.000 شخص.[10] في 22 يوليو 2019، أغلق المتظاهرون طريق سريع من 11 حارة.[11] بينما استقال عدد من موظفي روسلو في بداية الاحتجاجات، إلا أنه استقال من رئاسة الحزب التقدمي الجديد في 21 يوليو، وقال أنه لن يسعى لاعادة الترشح لفترة ثانية لمنصب الحاكم في انتخابات 2020، لكنه رفض الاستقالة من منصبه كحاكم. بحلول 22 يوليو، كانت المظاهرات قد وصلت ليومها الحادي عشر، بالقرب من لا فورتالزا، مقر الحاكم في سان خوان.[12] في 22 يوليو 2019، أعلن روسلو أن استقالته ستدخل حيز التنفيذ في 2 أغسطس 2019.
