منتيزوما الأول Moctezuma I (1390- 1469م). أصبح إمبراطورًا عام 1440م واشتُهر قائدًا عسكريًا، وقام بتوسيع حدود إمبراطورية الأزتك حتى خليج المكسيك. بدأ في برنامج عمل شعبي ضخم. بنى سدًا كبيرًا لحفظ مياه بحيرة تكسكوكو حتى لا تغمر المياه عاصمته، تينوشتيتلان (مدينة مكسيكو سيتي)، وشق أيضًا قناة لجلب المياه العذبة من ينابيع شابولتيبك إلى عاصمته.

مونتيزوما الثاني إمبراطور المكسيك من 1502م إلى 1520م مرتديًا العلم الملكي من الريش الكويزالي المربوط إلى ظهره.
