علم الأسماك

علم الأسماك Ichthyology أحد أقسام علم الحيوان، أو علم دراسة الحيوان الذي يختص بالأسماك.

Fish compose approximately 8% of all figurative depictions on Mimbres pottery.

ويشتمل على دراسة النمو والبنية والعادات في الأسماك، وكذلك تصنيف أنواعها وتوزيعها الجغرافي، والعلاقة بين الأسماك وبيئتها. ويتضمن علم الأسماك أيضًا أوجه أهميتها للإنسان مثل مصايد الأسماك وحفظ الطعام، ورياضة الصيد.
