علم الأرجنتين هو علم وطني ثلاثي يتكون من صفين أزرقين يفصل بينهما اللون الأبيض. استخدم العلم أول مرة عام 1812 ولكن بدون الشعار الموجود في الوسط وهو شمس مايو الذي يرمز إلى ثورة مايو فقد أضيف إلى العلم عام 1818. والشعار يستخدم أيضاً في علم الاوروگواي. رفع العلم لأول مرة في بوينس أيريس فوق كنيسة القديس نيقولاوس في 23 أغسطس 1812.

التاريخ
أسباب الألوان
يعزي المعتقد الشعبي الألوان إلى ألوان السماء والسحاب والشمس؛ بعض الأناشيد المتعلقة بالعلم، مثل "الشروق Aurora" أو "تحية العلم" تذكر ذلك أيضاً. إلا أن المؤرخين عادة ما يتجاهلون هذه الفكرة وينسبوا تلك الألوان إما إلى الإيمان بمريم العذارء أو الولاء لبيت بوربون.
التصميم
الشكل والمقاس
من 1978، أصبحت النسب الرسمية للعلم 9:14، ومقاسه الرسمي 0.9 في 1.4 متر. وفيه ثلاث شرائط تتبادل الأزرق السرولي - الأبيض. كل نطاق ارتفاعه 30 سنتيمتر. في النطاق الأوسط يوجد شعار يـُعرف بإسم شمس مايو (إسپانية: Sol de Mayo) الذهبية. الشمس مرسومة على شاكلة رمز إنتي، إله الشمس لدى الإنكا. ويـُستعمل أعلام بنسب 1:2 و 2:3 .

شمس مايو
تأثير العلم الأرجنتيني
القائد الأرجنتيني لويس-ميشل أوري استخدم العلم الأرجنتيني كنموذج للعلم الأزرق-الأبيض-الأزرق لأول دولة مستقلة في أمريكا الوسطى، التي خـُلِقت في 1818 في إيسلا پروڤيدنسيا، وهي جزيرة قبالة الشاطئ الشرقي لنيكاراگوا.
