جوپيتر (أسطورة)

جوپيتر (أسطورة) Jupiter (mythology) هو ملك الآلهة الرومانية وإله السماء والبرق في الميثولوجيا الرومانية. يعد مناظرًا لزيوس في الميثولوجيا الإغريقية. كان يوبيتر هو راعي وعراب روما وكان يقر القوانين ويضمن العدالة والنظام الاجتماعي. كان يوبيتر هو الإله الرئيسي في ثالوث كابيتولين بالإضافة إلى يونو ومينرفا.

في الميثولوجيا الرومانية، يعد جوبيتر أبًا لإله الحرب مارس وبالتالي يعد جوبيتر جدًا لكل من رومولوس ورموس المؤسسين الأسطوريين لروما. وهو ابن الإله ساتورن.

كان جوپيتر موقرًا جدًا في الديانة الرومانية القديمة ولا يزال موقرًا في نظر الوثنيين الجدد الذين يؤمنون بالآلهة القديمة في روما. وقد اكتشف تمثال في مدينة روما يمثل الاله جوبيتر نقش عليه باليونانية ما معناه: جوپيتر ملك يبرود نسبة إلى مدينة يبرود السورية
