ألبرت بروس سابين (و.1906 – 1993) باحث أمريكي في مجال الطب، قام بتحضير لقاح لشلل الأطفال يُعطَى عن طريق الفم. يحتوي لقاح سابين على مواد أُضعفت فعاليتها من الفيروسات المسببة لشلل الأطفال، تعمل على وقاية الجسم دون أن يتأثر الجسم بالمرض. بدأ الأطباء في الولايات المتحدة استخدام هذا اللقاح عام 1961م، وذلك بعد عام من تحضير سابين له. وكان التلقيح ضد شلل الأطفال من قبل، يتم عن طريق الحقن. ولذلك يعتبر استخدام لقاح سابين أسهل من اللقاح السابق الذي حضره جوناس سالك عام 1954م، فضلا عن طول مدة فعاليته. وقد أدى استعمال العقارين على نطاق واسع، إلى استئصال مرض شلل الأطفال في أجزاء كثيرة من العالم.

وقد اخترع سابين لقاحات ضد أمراض فيروسية أخرى بما في ذلك مرض التهاب الدماغ وحمى الضنك، بالإضافة إلى أنه أجرى بحوثا علمية حول إمكانية وجود علاقة بين الفيروسات وبعض أشكال مرض السرطان.

وُلد سابين في بولندا، واستقرت أسرته عام 1921م بالولايات المتحدة، ثم تخرّج في كلية الطب بجامعة نيويورك عام 1931م. عمل سابين ضمن مجموعة من الأطباء في عدد من المؤسسات الطبية، بما في ذلك كلية الطب بجامعة سنسناتي وجامعة الطب في كارولينا الجنوبية، ونال ببحوثه كثيرا من الجوائز والأوسمة.
