Daniel Esselstrom, a 23rd Civil Engineer Squadron explosive ordnance disposal technician from Moody Air Force Base, Ga., uses a mine detector to check for an improvised explosive device during an IED training course Dec. 12, 2013, in Area 2 at Nellis AFB, Nev. During the two-week EOD Counter IED-course, students are tested during 56 operations which simulate scenarios at home station and deployed locations.
