Original caption: LIEUT.-COMMANDER E. C. COOKSON, D.S.O., V.C. Awarded the Victoria Cross for gallantry during the advance to Kut. He was shot dead while attempting to cut a wire cable securing enemy barges which formed an obstruction across the river. |
