| Description | A bowl of Pixian doubanjiang (郫县豆瓣酱; pinyin: dòubànjiàng; literally "beans mixed into sauce"), a spicy paste made from fermented broad beans, soybeans, red chili peppers, salt, and spices; used particularly in the Sichuan cuisine of China. It is named for the town of Pixian, Sichuan. Photo taken in Kent, Ohio with a Panasonic Lumix digital camera (model DMC-LS75). The doubanjiang (Red Earth brand; ingredients: soybeans, chili, spices; produced in Chuzhou, Anhui, China) was purchased in a Cleveland, Ohio-area Chinese grocery store. |
