English: Coat of Arms of Juan María Vicencio de Ripperdá, 24th Governor of the Spanish Colony of Texas 1769–1776, granted to his father John William, Baron Ripperda (don Juan Guillermo Varon (Baron) de Ripperda) upon the baron's grant of nobility making him a grandee of Spain with the title of Duque (Duke) de Ripperda.
Shield: Quarterly: 1st, Or, 3 eagles Sable langued Gules, beaked and armed Or and a horizontal line Sable passant between the eagles, 2 above and 1 below the aforementioned line; 2nd, Azure, 2 fleur de lys Or in chief and a mullet of the same in base; 3rd, Gules, 3 open towers Argent; 4th, Or, to the eagle Sable langued Gules, beaked and armed Or accompanied to the dexter canton of the base a mullet Azure. Over all on an inescutcheon Sable a knight, fully armored, holding a harness Gules, riding a Bay horse galloping over a rock terrain Proper, the aforementioned knight holding a spear in bend, partially hidden behind the horse. The full achievement includes: Supporters: Two griffins of greenish color, coward (the tail held between the legs) Mantle: Azure, doubled Ermine, surmounted with a ducal coronet. |
