Description
English: High magnification micrograph of Castleman disease, hyaline vascular variant, also known as angiofollicular lymph node hyperplasia and giant lymph node hyperplasia. H&E stain.

Features:

  1. Pale concentric (expanded) mantle zone (lymphocytes).
    • "Regressed follicles" - germinal center (pale area) is small.
  2. "Lollipops":
    • Germinal centers fed by prominent (radially penetrating sclerotic) vessels; lollipop-like appearance.
  3. Two germinal centers in one follicle.
  4. Hyaline material (pink acellular stuff on H&E stained sections) in germinal center.
  5. Sinuses effaced (lost).
