English: Arghun in Tārīkh-i Jahān-Gushā (reconstruction 2). Reference: Mongol brimmed silk hat in Gonnella, Julia; Weis, Friederike; Rauch, Christoph (2017). The Diez albums: contexts and contents. Leiden Boston: Brill. pp. 258–259. ISBN 978-90-04-32348-3. The men are portrayed as wearing elaborate Mongol brimmed hats with a variety of accessories, including feathers and flying ribbons, and the high-ranking status of the enthroned ruler is also indicated by his imposing hat, not by his robe. Often depicted as an indication of the Mongol ethnic background in early fourteenth-century paintings from West Asia,53 this type of headgear is also reminiscent of actual examples discovered in Mongolia (fig. 9.8).54 None of the Mongol men in Type 1 wears a turban, a symbol of Muslim men {{cite book}}: line feed character in |quote= at position 520 (help) |
