لويس لولوار (Luis Federico Leloir) هو عالم كيمياء حيوية ولد في 6 سبتمبر 1906 بباريس و توفي في 3 ديسمبر 1987 ببوينس آيرس .

Chemical structure of galactose. Leloir and his team discovered that in galactosemia, patients lacked the necessary enzyme (Galactose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase) to convert unusable galactose into usable glucose.

ولد لويس لولوار في باريس و لكنه انتقل صغيرا مع عائلته إلى الأرجنتين حيث بدأ دراسة الطب سنة 1924 في جامعة بوينس ايرس ة حصل على الدكتوراه في الطب سنة 1932 . عمل بعد ذلك مساعد باحث في معهد الفيزيولوجيا بالجامعة و في سنة 1947 أصبح مدير معهد الأبحاث في الفيزيولوجيا بمؤسسة كمبومار . أجرى خلال الخمسينات بحوثا حولي السكريات في الاستقلاب و أثبت أن عديد السكاريد متكونة من ذرات ابتدائية .

حصل على جائزة نوبل في الكيمياء لسنة 1970 ليصبح ثالث جنوب أمريكي يحصل على جائزة نوبل .
