مار دل پلاتا Mar del Plata هي مدينة أرجنتينية في الطرف الجنوبي الشرقي من محافظة بوينس آيرس وتقع على ساحل المحيط الأطلسي. وهي مقر قسم الجنرال پويرِّدون. مار دل پلاتا هي ثاني أكبر مدينة في محافظة بوينس آيرس. الاسم "مار دل پلاتا" يعني "بحر منطقة پلاتا" أو "التحام البحر بمنطقة (نهر) پلاتا".[1] مار دل پلاتا هي أحد موانئ الصيد الرئيسية وأكبر منتجع شاطئ على البحر في الأرجنتين. وبتعداد 614,350 نسمة في تعداد 2010 [INDEC]، فإنها سابع أكبر مدينة في الأرجنتين.

Pre-Spanish era: The region was inhabited by Günuna Kena nomads (also known as northern Tehuelches). They were later (after the 11th century) strongly influenced by the Mapuche culture.
