گرينيتش بالإنجليزية Greenwich ، (pronunciation (المساعدة·معلومات); IPA: /ˈɡrɛnɪtʃ/ GREN-itch, /ˈɡrɛnɪdʒ/ GREN-idge, or /ˈɡrɪnɪdʒ/ GRIN-idge)[1][2] هي بلدة في جنوب شرق لندن في المملكة المتحدة، اليوم هي تشكل جزء من لندن.

التسمية

Grenewic, أوGrenevic ترجع أصول الكلميتن إلى الساكسونين ، وتعني حرفيا القرية الخضراء.[3] وقد عرفت بداية بإسم جرينيتش الشرقية للتفرقة عن جرينيتش الغربية أو دبيتفورد ستروند وهي جزء من ديبتفورد المجاورة لنهر التايمز ,[4] وبداية من القرن التاسع عشر إستعمل إسم جرينيتش ليعنى جرينيتش كلها.
